Website Spring Cleaning Smackdown!
When was the last time you updated your website? If you sell products or services online, we hope you do that periodically. If you only have an informational site about your business, then that gets overlooked quite often, especially if you can’t remember where you put all your site’s information after your designer finished it 3 years ago. The digital world evolves daily, you should update your site regularly to keep it fresh and up to date.
Here are a few suggestions:
1- Photos, logos, graphics
Change your images to high resolution, it’s all about the visual effect. With so many smart phones with great HD cameras, bad photos are no longer an excuse. Get to it!
2- Contact Information
Have you moved or change your telephone number? make sure your contact information is correct so your customers can find you and contact you.
3- Mobile friendly
Is your website responsive to mobile devices? Have you checked? most people surf the internet on their phones and tablets, you must make sure your site is mobile-friendly.
4- Social Networks
Wait, you don’t have links to your social business pages? Plz fix that!
Are your pages a hoarder’s paradise? Clean it up a bit, delete what is outdated and offer clean easy to the eye pages (Less is more).
Unless you are a musician peddling your craft you shouldn’t have music on autoplay on your site, this is not the 90’s anymore!!!
7- Sign up form
Even if you don’t have an online store, you should have a sign-up form with a call to action to grow your email list. How else are your customers going to know you are having an in-store sale, discontinuing a product or opening a new store? Come on!
You changed your logo or logo colors and never updated your site? Really?
Your site looks like a rainbow. Too many colors, it’s like someone just threw up lucky charms all over it. Ensure your color scheme compliments your logo, you must coordinate. Think of it like wearing brown pants with lime green socks and a red shirt, you wouldn’t do that, would you?
Avoid it, period.
